Imagine the labor of love to build something this massive in stone. I had to see this house and am sitting in the photo on the west side. Another shows a huge ball of barbed wire which proves the authenticity of this homestead that was built 150 years ago. Liz is sitting on the uneven stairs hewn from rough timber which is next to her tiny kitchen with the well used fireplace. She is renting this relic but wants to buy if it ever goes up for sale. Just south of Lawrence Kansas and truly a marvel.
Turns out I was wrong about going to Kansas City from Dallas, it is EIGHT hours instead of six. I found that out once I looked at my Mapquest printout. So, I was up until midnight talking with Ken’s relatives, what fun that was! Liz helped me find their place from her stone house by using GPS in her new Honda car that is a hybrid. It tells her if she is making a wrong turn and gave her entirely different directions to Ken’s relatives place than what Mapquest had suggested.
We certainly do live in an interesting age with modern technology helping to show off this 150 year old stone house!!! Now, I have 10 hours left of driving straight up I-29 but I may stop along the way if I get too tired. I am ready to be home, sleeping in my own bed in our own 92 year old farmhouse built by my Danish grandpa. I’ve been on the road for almost two weeks!
